Piano Sonata No.2 - Db major

While the first sonata was a mere academic work, the second is more personal. Originally it was intended to be a present for my girl-friend to our fifth anniversary. But just as I completed the first movement, she had the brilliant idea to end our relationship. The result was a fatalistic sad second movement. The final movement however is very cheeky and follows the motto: "Who would drop a tear when parting, while at the next corner another girl is already waiting?" This song by Marlene Dietrich, as well as many other tunes that were important to my girl-friend and me, are all used and developed throughout the movement.
